Safety Policy

Our Safety Policy as a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Company is that Safety is and always has been a primary concern of Salt River Materials Group and its operating areas. The reasons are twofold: First, and foremost, is the concern for the human values of life, health, and physical well-being of our employees. Second, is the recognition that good safety, health and environmental practices are a value that contributes to the success of our company. 
 
Salt River Materials Group's Safety Handbook is issued to every employee of Salt River Materials Group to confirm the practice of providing a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees. With this in mind, this safety handbook includes safety practices designed to inform, educate and prevent loss by awareness to these practices. 
 
Along with our safety handbook, additional information and instructions will also be given to employees in safety meetings and other safety, health and environmental related training meetings and programs during their employment. 
 
The safety rules, procedures and guidelines contained in this safety handbook are to be followed by every Salt River Materials Group employee in every area of the company. In addition every employee is required to comply with all local, state and federal laws that apply to all our operations. Supervisors are responsible to enforce these rules and employees are required to comply. 
 
All incidents, accidents, property losses are preventable by the exercise of proper judgment, alertness, attitude, and by following the proper procedures covered in this safety handbook. The use of proper methods and recognized “rules” and practices acquired through years of experience and training can prevent an unplanned event that can cause injury or loss. 
 
It is the intent of the Company to provide a safe working environment for all our employees, contractors, and visitors at every work site, in accordance with our safety handbook of rules, procedures and guidelines in our safety program. We will comply with the regulations and standards as set forth by MSHA, OSHA and the Office of the State Mine Inspector for metal and non-metal surface mines.
