Community Involvement

Salt River Materials Group employees get involved in their communities in about every way possible. We coach sports teams for children, youth, and adults, including t-ball, little league and youth baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, football, swimming, basketball, and track and field events.

We enter golf tournaments, fun runs, bicycle and motorcycle rides, and walk to raise money for a variety of non-profit and social service agencies that improve the quality of life for our families and for our neighbors.

We attend dinners, participate in silent and live auctions, buy baked goods and have our cars washed to help people in need of medical attention, help kids go to special camps, and buy uniforms or equipment for cheerleading and sports teams.

Individuals contribute on boards and as members of committees for local and state food banks, chambers of commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way, charitable foundations, cultural alliances, scholarship organizations, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, FFA and 4-H, and to produce local and county fairs, rodeo, motocross and racing events to build a sense of pride and accomplishment for young people.

Some employees have participated in international travel for professional growth and to foster understanding, peace, and a two-way exchange of ideas with their peers in other parts of the world.

Others join service clubs, business associations, alumni groups, school booster organizations, and take part in church and Native American community activities that impact people of all ages.

As a business entity, Salt River Materials Group, which includes the businesses formerly known as Phoenix Cement Company and Salt River Sand & Rock, donates funds to help the elderly, the hungry, families in crisis, wildlife and animal welfare, those who are mentally and physically challenged, education efforts, and children’s causes. We assist schools and municipalities with needs as varied as lights and scoreboards for ball fields, ADA approved ramps and outdoor basketball courts, landscaping, and sponsorships of cultural and historical events, as well as events that bring tourist dollars, attention and prestige to our local areas.

We give scholarships to graduating high school seniors and summer jobs to young adults enrolled in college the following semester. We contribute to Eagle Scout projects that help communities, to robotics teams that encourage tomorrow’s engineers, and to preschool and after school programs that create safe learning environments.

Salt River Materials Group values quality of life and contributes in meaningful ways to promote a high quality of life in every community of which we are a part.
